#88 | Selena is Not the Khia of Tejano Music (feat. @EgyptoKnuckles)

Special guest Ali aka Egypto Knuckles joins Brandon and Ken to discuss some of the latest stories in entertainment, including the long list of new inductees to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (and how these people having been previously omitted is a shame), backlash from Jesse Williams’ speech at the BET Awards, and the new inductees to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which leads to discussion of the ubiquity of the film “Selena” in 1990s high school Spanish class curriculums.

In addition, we also review Disney and Steven Spielberg’s “The BFG”, Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey” and “The Shining” (which Brandon has _finally_ seen), and “Orange is the New Black” Season 4, for which Ken provides a great extended review at the end of the show (SPOILERS abound).

Join Brandon, John, Kareem, Ken, and Jamison as we discuss, dissect, and try to make sense of the past, present, and future in film, television, music, animation, race relations in media - and on occasion comics and tech - while trying to remain sane. If you’re tired of hearing the same (*ahem*) monochromatic take on modern media, we’re the podcast for you!
