#111 | Get Out of Tim Burton’s Caucasian House

Tim Burton doesn’t want “you people” darkening up his good, wholesome, creepy-makeup-laden white motion pictures. It goes without saying that his bizarre (even for him) response to why his new film, “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”, is a little low on melanin in the age of increased diversity.

Elsewheres, Brandon, Kareem, John, and Ali review the new Denzel Washington/Antoine Fuqua film “The Magnificent Seven”, a second look at Disney’s “Queen of Katwe” starring XXL Freshmen Class quality rapper Lupita Nyong’o, discuss the “live action” remake of “The Lion King”, a “Dynasty” remake that’s somehow not “Empire”, Grandmaster Caz taking his legacy in hip-hop history back, and more – including reviews and discussions of Solange’s new LP “A Seat at the Table”, Ron Howard’s Beatles documentary “Eight Days a Week”, as well as the latest episodes of “Atlanta”, “black-ish”, “Empire”, “Designated Survivor”, “This is Us”, and – yes – “The 411 with Mary J. Blige’s” first full episode interviewing Hillary Clinton. Don’t let an officer stop you from tuning in.

Join Brandon, John, Kareem, Ken, and Jamison as we discuss, dissect, and try to make sense of the past, present, and future in film, television, music, animation, race relations in media - and on occasion comics and tech - while trying to remain sane. If you’re tired of hearing the same (*ahem*) monochromatic take on modern media, we’re the podcast for you!
