#121 | They Call Me “Doctor Strange”! The Spoilerific Review

As if by magic, the Say Something Nice Crew returns to review the latest Marvel Studios superhero epic, Scott Derrickson’s “Doctor Strange”, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chewetel Ejiofor, and a puzzlingly white Tilda Swinton. We discuss, in both spoiler-free and full-spoiler segments, how the film relates to its source material, where this film sits quality-wise within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the visual effects and handling of mysticism, and the film’s success and missteps managing the Asian stereotypes present in the original comics.

In addition, we also discuss the new “Wonder Woman” trailer, the previews for Disney’s live-action remake of “Beauty and the Beast”, Rick Famuyiwa departing as director of “The Flash” feature film, and the racist tears that flowed when Beyoncé and the Dixie Chicks performed at the 2016 Country Music Awards.

Join Brandon, John, Kareem, Ken, and Jamison as we discuss, dissect, and try to make sense of the past, present, and future in film, television, music, animation, race relations in media - and on occasion comics and tech - while trying to remain sane. If you’re tired of hearing the same (*ahem*) monochromatic take on modern media, we’re the podcast for you!
