#172 | No Budget, No Problem: The Awesomeness of “The Carmichael Show”

Despite a limited budget and being placed on NBC’s summer schedule, “The Carmichael Show” continues to thrive as the little sitcom that could. Of course, when you have a cast with David Alan Grier, Loretta Devine, Li’l Rel Howery (“Get Out”) and Tiffany Haddish (“Girls Trip”), you don’t need much. Based on Jerrod Carmichael’s real-life family, the show has emerged as a welcome-successor to Norman Lear’s socio-political sitcom legacy. Join Brandon, John, Kareem, Ken, and Jamison as we discuss, dissect, and try to make sense of the past, present, and future in film, television, music, animation, race relations in media - and on occasion comics and tech - while trying to remain sane. If you’re tired of hearing the same (*ahem*) monochromatic take on modern media, we’re the podcast for you!
