#199.6 | Best Of: Brilliant But Overlooked – Cult TV Shows | #saysomethingextra

(Since we just had “Brilliant But Overlooked II” a few weeks ago, let’s revisit the original in this special flashback episode!)

In the first of a continuing series of episodes highlighting cult classics of all types – film, TV, music, and more – John, Brandon, Ken & Ali each share one of their favorite TV shows that unfortunately came and went without the fanfare and accolades it deserved. Each co-host picked one episode for everyone to watch, and that episode is used as the basis for a discussion about the show as a whole.

John shares the smart, campy humor of ABC’s “Ugly Betty” through the episode “A Tree Grows in Guadalajara” (S01E23), Brandon introduces everyone to Cartoon Network’s deconstructed and subversive Hanna-Barbera revamp “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated” with “The Legend of Alice May” (S01E06), Ken covers the surreal, sly comedy of Showtime’s “Dead Like Me” with “Reapercussions” (S01E04), and Ali discusses the poignant sadness of the “6B” episode of FOX’s sci-fi fantasy “Fringe”.

Join Brandon, John, Kareem, Ken, and Jamison as we discuss, dissect, and try to make sense of the past, present, and future in film, television, music, animation, race relations in media - and on occasion comics and tech - while trying to remain sane. If you’re tired of hearing the same (*ahem*) monochromatic take on modern media, we’re the podcast for you!

Hi SSNpod! Really loved this episode.

One show that I felt never got enough love was Life, a show that ran on NBC from 2007-2009.

Only 2 seasons, but the major mystery was wrapped up pretty well. I hope you guys can check it out sometime.
